Code Weaver – Morse Code Translator
Review by on
Back in the day, people did not have the internet and did not have cell phones to enable them to easily communicate with others over great distances. What they did have was Morse code - a type of character encoding that transmits telegraphic information using rhythm.

A while back I covered an application that could “listen” to Morse code and interpret the message – that application is the Xsoft-developed CwGet. If you received a Morse code transmission, CwGet could tell you what that transmission said.

After reviewing that app, it got me thinking: are there any applications out there that can do the opposite? And so I got to the Nu-Ware-developed application Code Weaver. This application does the opposite of what CwGet did. Give Code Weaver a text file, and it will let you hear how it would all sound in Morse code.

The application works by reading the characters in the aforementioned text file and then by playing audio samples in sequence. So if you were looking for a fun and educations More code software program to do this for you, then you need to get Code Weaver.

Before you get Code Weaver and put it to the test, there are a few technical details you need to know about:
Download – the download weighs in at roughly 4MB, which is good news. It means that even on a less than spectacular internet connection the download will complete in no time at all. To my mind, not having to wait a long time for a download to complete is always nice.
Installation - Code Weaver should work with all Windows versions, but it’s recommended you use it on Windows XP.
Limitations - Code Weaver is not freeware, but it is free to try. You will be able to use the trial version of Code Weaver only for a limited amount of time.

Pros
  • Lightweight download size
  • Easy to use

Cons
  • Free to try
